Why People Will Move to Meridian in 2025

I’ll be honest: for a lot of folks, now is not a good time to buy or sell property. But there are five ironclad reasons why people will still move to Meridian this year (even with high interest rates and low inventory).

For starters, job changes happen every day. And let’s face it: the economy doesn’t care if you have the home of your dreams locked in at a 3% interest rate. When your work changes, your location often does, too.

Of course, sometimes, folks decide to rent their home out because their mortgage rate is so low. But most of the time, people need the equity in their current home to buy their next one.

Another common reason for moving is *ding ding ding* wedding bells! Starting a new life together means living together, too.

In some cases, that means I work with two first-time homebuyers. In other cases, one partner wants to sell their current house and move in with their spouse. Either way, it’s time to break out the cardboard boxes and packing tape.

Now, if you’re newly married and looking forward to starting a family, then you know what’s coming next… The third reason people move (even in a tough market) is babies!

Ultimately, it doesn’t matter if the economy is great or terrible — people will still have babies. And while a crib in your bedroom is fine, when your little one starts to grow, you’ll likely need more space.

On the other hand, when a couple separates, the paperwork often involves figuring out who gets to keep the house and who moves out. Divorce is a very common reason for moving (even if both parties determine to sell the home and split the money).

And finally, a death can contribute to one’s choice to move. When a family member passes, folks can face some major decisions about where to live and what to do with any property left behind.

Remember, when it comes to estates, it’s important to have an experienced real estate agent to guide you through the process and present you with the best options available.

The thing is: even in a tough market like this, some people will move just because they want to make a change. (More power to them!) But for the average person here in Meridian, a move is happening right now due to one of the reasons listed above.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what interest rates are or whether it’s a seller’s or buyer’s market. Life happens, and you’ll need to move.
